Reporting "Asre Khodro", The deal will see Scania build and supply 1,350 buses for public transport services in Iran, the first of those buses are expected on the roads of some of Iran’s largest cities by the end of the year.

Already one of Scania’s top-ten bus markets globally, the new buses being supplied to the middle-eastern nation have been designed to ensure emissions are kept to a minimum.

Scania telling us this has been a challenge given the quality of the fuel currently available in Iran.

The Swedish heavy vehicle manufacturer will be working with local partners, Oghab Afshan, to fill the order.

“Together with our partners, we have a strong presence in Iran with comprehensive industrial operations and an extensive service network,” says Scania’s President and CEO Henrik Henriksson.

“We look forward to developing this market even further to provide the best services and sustainable transport solutions to our customers.”

Scania’s expanded footprint in Iran comes after French rivals, Renault, recently announced an expansion in truck manufacturing in the nation.
