Reporting "Asre khodro", the report published on the company’s official website indicates that Iran has a ۴% share in Renault global sales — the company sold ۲.۴ million cars globally during the eight months to August.
Renault’s sales report indicates ۸۲% YoY rise in the company’s sales in Iran. During the same period last year the French auto giant sold ۵۴,۵۴۸ cars in the country.
Local Production
The numbers include Renault cars produced by Iranian carmakers. However, the data does not provide details.
Two of Iran’s major automotive companies Iran Khodro and Pars Khodro produce two Renault models.
IKCO and Pars Khodro produce Renault Logan, locally known as Tondar۹۰. The two companies produced ۱۸,۹۶۴ (IKCO) and ۱۹,۸۴۲ (Pars Khodro) units of the model in the first five months of the Iranian calendar year that started in March.
Furthermore, Pars Khodro produces the Renault Sandero which has become very popular with the younger generations. The company produced ۱۹,۱۱۶ units of the model during the five-month period.
Major auto parts used in the production of the two models are imported and the two locally-manufactured models have a۱۰% share in Iranian carmakers total output.
Earlier in August, the French carmaker signed a trilateral production deal with Industrial Development and Renovation Organization of Iran and a local private company Negin Khodro.
Renault has a majority ۶۰% stake in the new joint venture, while Negin Khodro and IDRO have ۲۰% each.
In addition to the locally manufactured models, four other Renault cars are available in Iran through imports, namely Symbol, Talisman, Duster, and Koleos.
