Accordin to Eftekhari, IKCO has set the stage and supplied the required equipment. The line will go operational in two months. IKCO will then be able to machine cylinder blocks and cylinder heads, previously done in France.
Eftekhari noted that TU۵ engine that is mounted on Runna has been fully localized. Machining cylinder block and cylinder head of TU۳ engine would run up the localization of the engine to more than ۹۰ percent and it would roll off the mass production line by the end of this July.
IKCO Deputy CEO in Powertrain continued that the quality of this localized engine is exactly identical to its French version.
Eftekhari also introduced the pre-production of XUM engine, the optimized version of XU۷, and said, “This ۱۹۰۰cc engine would replace ۱۸۰۰cc L۴ engine on Peugeot Pars ELX”.
