Reporting “Asre Khodro” quoted from Ikcopress, Mehrdad Elyasi, the manager of powertrain and common systems department in this regard said, “The base of the new gearbox is the one currently being used on products. We just add the AMT kit to the gearbox and calibrate it. So the modified gearbox performs like real automatic ones.
Unlike the other automatic gearboxes that raise the cost price of cars due to some certain technical complications, this system would be available with a lower price and could consequently be welcomed by the customers.
Technical feasibility of AMT production was defined in a project that started at the beginning of this Iranian calendar year, March ۲۱. This gear box would be developed under IKCO brand and mounted on Samand and Runna.
IKCO has come to an agreement with part producers to supply parts and components needed for production of this Automatic Manual Transmission.
Elyasi said that this gearbox would enter into mas production phase about one and a half year from the beginning of the project.
The manager of powertrain and common systems department finally referred to IKCO brand gearbox project which is running by IPCO (IKCO Powertrain Co.) with the cooperation of IKCO R&D center and added, “IKCO aims to upgrade the technical features of manual gearboxes used in its all products by using its own brand gearbox which will be mass produced in a near future
